Field Officer
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Gaza is looking for candidates to fill the following position:
Department:Economic Security (EcoSec)
Function:Field Officer
Place of employment:GAZA / KHAN YOUNIS
BACKGROUND:
The EcoSec department aims to ensure that households affected by conflict can meet essential needs and maintain or restore sustainable livelihoods. In the Gaza Strip, the focus is on providing income support to families through Cash-for-Work projects and assisting farmers to rehabilitate, restore and enhance their agricultural production. In addition, the ICRC provides emergency relief assistance for Families affected by military °petan:this.
MAIN TASKS:
-Participates and contributes to the objectives of the EcoSec department specifically in the implementation of livelihood projects.
-Assesses and documents the needs of the vulnerable populations, analysing conclusions and formulating recommendations for an ICRC response.
-Maintains awareness and documents the economic security situation in Gaza.
-In coordination with the Head of Department writes project proposals that includes due consideration to vulnerability, resources, planning, baseline, indicators and means of verification.
-Manages the implementation of Cash-for-Work projects.
-Follows-up project administration and logistic requirements.
-Manages relationships with implementing partners (Municipalities. local NGOs and others) including contract negotiations and supervision of works.
-As required supports the Emergency Response Relief Programme.
Main Skills required for the post:
University degree in Social Sciences (Development Studies)
2-4 years work experience in a similar field
Fluent in written and spoken English, with ability to translate documents from Arabic to English
Independent and self-motivated, with the ability to work in a team
Good knowledge of geographically assigned environment
Experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of projects. and good analytical skills
Respect for confidentiality, with diplomacy and negotiation skills
Exceptional communication skills and ability to network with a range of stakeholders
Understanding of the ICRC mission and the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement
In accordance with the Resolution No. 17, 2010 of the Gaza Ministry of Interior, applicants who
have a running contract with a Ministry will not be selected.
